Venus Transit 2012 To astronomers, a transit occurs whenever a small astronomical object passes in front of a larger one. During a transit of Venus, the planet Venus passes directly between the Earth and the Sun. This was the last transition of Venus for this century. The next pair of transits will occur in December 11, 2117, and December 8, 2125.
