Minimum viewing equipment: telescope Crab Nebula 6,500 light years distance. Can be a disappointing object if viewed with a small apperture telescope. M1 is a gaseous supernova, a remnant of the explosion of a star recorded by the Chinese astronomers in in 1054. Note: This is an extended exposure picture taken with specialised equipment and is likely different from what can be seen through an ordinary telescope. |
